We don’t just sell shipping containers here at Gap. We can repurpose them too.
In fact, we’re regarded as a UK leading specialist for shipping container conversions.
Our in-house team can design, manufacture and install bespoke structures to pretty much any specification and we’ve completed countless conversion projects over the years – creating everything from bars, cafés, catering units and restaurants to offices, classrooms, toilets and more.
To demonstrate our skills and experience, here we’ve rounded up just a few of our favourites. So why not take a look? And if you’d like to create your own converted shipping container – for personal or business purposes – be sure to get in touch.
Our top 3 ‘container conversion’ projects
1. CONTENT Bongo’s Bingo – Liverpool
In 2019, we worked closely with CONTENT – a unique events venue in Liverpool and the new home of Bongo’s Bingo. CONTENT was keen to make ‘repurposed shipping containers an integral part of their architecture and identity’ and we were delighted they chose to work with us.
Not only did we supply empty shipping containers for display indoors and outdoors, we also completed two container conversions – creating a hip yet functional shipping container bar (with a roof terrace for customers) and toilet cubicles for inside the venue.
Even if we do say so ourselves, the results were incredibly impressive and we believe this project truly demonstrates our level of skill and creativity.
2. Cheshire Oaks Festival Garden
A few years ago, we were thrilled to be contacted by Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet – who asked us to design and manufacture a cocktail bar and grill shack for their summer social event.
The event was ‘festival’ themed, therefore a converted container fitted the bill perfectly. Two 20ft containers were joined at the centre, then painted in bright blue and adorned with eye-catching logos. Open hatch windows were added to the front for serving customers and the structure was fitted with all the necessary equipment to cook food and serve cold drinks.
Cheshire Oaks were very pleased with the result. And again, this example showcases our capabilities and demonstrates the amazing things that can be created using a couple of old containers.
3. Christmas market stall
Last but not least is this multi-storey converted shipping container, which featured at the 2019 Manchester Christmas Markets.
The project began as just two basic shipping containers, with a couple of windows and a single door. However, by applying our expertise, they were transformed into something truly special.
Practical fixtures and fittings were added to allow the preparation and serving of food. Whilst a lot of thought when into the aesthetics and design, to ensure it blended in with the rest of the market. The attention to detail is second to none and the skills of our conversion team are clear to see.
We created an impressive festive food stall, that wowed and attracted attention from passers-by. And this particular case study shows just how creative our conversions can be.
