Sucker for a horror film?
Step inside one of these deeply creepy containers – if you dare!
DARKFIELD is a UK production company – founded by Glen Neath and David Rosenburg – that creates terrifying theatre shows inside 40ft shipping containers. And in the lead-up to Halloween 2022, they’re taking their installations to Montgomery Square, Canary Wharf.
Three intense and deeply immersive experiences await you – Eulogy, Flight and Coma. All of which use striking sets, binaural 360˚ sound and blanket darkness, to place you – as a member of the audience – at the centre of the evolving narrative.
Behind each door, a ‘strange world unfolds’; one that explores the things that unnerve and alarm us the most as humans. You put on a pair of headphones. The lights go out. And for 30 minutes, you’ll be taken on the most horrifying journey of your life – without actually moving anywhere.

Described as a ‘perfectly programmed high-art theme park ride; a reminder of one’s closeness at all times to death – that spits you out feeling palpably alive’. These multi-sensory ‘horror’ experiences certainly aren’t for the faint-hearted… or the mildly claustrophobic!
Here at Gap Containers, we’re not sure if we’re brave enough to try them ourselves.
But, as specialists in shipping container conversions, we can’t help but marvel at this fascinating and innovative use of the humble steel box. The possibilities really are endless. And we’re pleased to say, if you’re interested in your own container conversion, ours aren’t anywhere near as scary…
Container conversions at Gap Containers
We currently offer a fully bespoke container conversion service. Which means, whatever design you have in mind – whether you’re looking for something small and practical or something as extraordinary as DARKFIELD’s sensory containers – we can help to bring your vision to life.
And when you choose us, there’s absolutely nothing to fear.
Versatility
We have a variety of sizes available, ranging from 6 to 40ft, and both single and multi-storey structures are possible. Over the years, we’ve worked on 100s of container conversions, and we have the skills and expertise required to create a bespoke unit that meets your specific needs.
Strength and security
Worried about things going bump in the night?
No need. All of our shipping containers are inherently secure. Constructed from corten steel, they’re strong and robust – designed specifically to protect whatever’s inside them. And to add to their safety, our conversions can be supplied with container padlocks and a fitted steel lockbox.
Appearance
We offer an endless range of personalised exterior finishes.
Due to their years at sea, used shipping containers can show signs of wear – including rust spots, scrapes and dents. But this damage is purely cosmetic and nothing that a lick of paint won’t fix.
Our units can be painted in any colour from the RAL colour chart. We can also add graphics, decals, cladding and more, depending on your specific requirements. So there’s no need to be concerned. Your converted shipping container doesn’t need to be an eyesore, plucked from the set of a horror film!
Fixtures and fittings
Not a fan of the dark?
To stop things from lurking in the shadows, our shipping containers can be fitted with a variety of interior fixtures and fittings, including lighting, electrical wiring, plumbing, air-conditioning etc.
We can also install windows and doors, encouraging natural light and fresh air to flow into the structure. And allowing you to escape that little bit more easily…
Affordability
Our prices certainly won’t give you the shock of your life.
When you come to us for a shipping container conversion, we start the process by arranging a one-to-one consultation. This allows us to establish your basic specification and budget. Our rates are competitive, and we’ll do everything we can to create your ideal container at a price you can afford.
Don’t be afraid to get in touch
Here at Gap, we’re always excited to hear of a new ingenious use for shipping containers. And the collection by DARKFIELD has really caught our eye and made us eager to start a project of our own.
Although, perhaps not something quite as frightening…
If you’re feeling inspired and would like to find out more about how we could help with a bespoke container conversion, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We don’t bite. We’re always happy to help and we’d love to hear your container conversion ideas.
